Aljeff was founded in 2000 in response to a growing need for services to combat the serious addiction growth / substance related suicide in and around Limerick city. The name ALJEFF comes from Alan and Jeffery Roache, two brothers who took their own lives within days of each other as a direct result of alcohol and other drug use.
ALJEFF is a company Limited by guarantee with charitable status. The Board of Directors is made up of representatives from business, legal, financial, voluntary and community sector.
From its foundation in 2000, ALJEFF was involved in the delivery of Education / Prevention programmes prior to developing its counselling services. With the employment of qualified, accredited counselling staff with experience of working with addicts in treatment centres in Ireland / USA and private practice. The Clinical Team is made up of Clinical Director, Senior Counsellor and Addiction Counsellors with the backup of the Operations Manager and administration Team. ALJEFF has provided counselling / Programmes at its location in Clareview Terrace, South Circular Road and in various satellite locations in the city and surrounding communities, including Limerick Prison, Families of Prisoners, Homeless Services, to name but a few.
